STUDENT DRESS CODE

The following dress appearance code has been designed to help ensure the safety of our children when in school and
to help cut clothing costs for all families:

Acceptable Dress Code

1.  Plain white dress shirts/blouses or polo shirts with collars or Budlong logo shirts with collars. (Not basketball, football, or soccer jerseys.).
2. Navy blue or black dress pants/slacks are to be worn.  No jeans, denim, baggy pants, sweat pants or pants with writing/logos on the pockets, etc.  Belts must be worn to hold up pants.
3. 
Navy blue or black skirts that reach the knee may be worn by the girls.
4.  Solid colored shoes.  Laces should be same color as shoe.
5.  Pants are to be worn at the waistline.  Seeing underwear is not appropriate.
6.  Shirts worn under uniform tops must be white or maroon and cannot have logos.

Unacceptable Dress:

1.  Improperly fitting clothing or ripped clothing.
2.  No caps or hats worn during school hours.
3.  No earrings to be worn by boys.  No large hoop earrings (larger than the size of a quarter) to be worn by girls.
4.  No outerwear (coats or jackets) worn during the school day.
5.
No use of makeup.
6. 
No wild hair styles, designs in hair, colored hair, spikes or hair streaking.
7.  No mini-skirts or bare midriffs.
8.  No apparel with symbols, other that the Budlong Bulldog logo.
9  .
No cutoff sleeveless shirts, beachwear, flip-flops, sneakers with skates, etc.

Prohibited Items
The following items will be confiscated:

1. Electronic equipment (MP3 players, CD players, etc.)
2. Expensive jewelry.
3. Toys and games-unless requested by the teacher in writing.
4. No beepers*
5. No cell phones*
6. No cigarettes, lighters, or matches. (not returned)*
7. No gum. (fines may be assessed by staff from $1.00-$5.00 per occurrence)
8. No permanent markers or liquid paper unless teacher holds them at their desks.
9. No laser pointers*, pokemon, yu-gi-oh, athletic sports cards 
10. No bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, etc.
11. Any item, as determined by administration, to be inappropriate for school.
12. No drugs or prescription medication, unless held in the school office with the proper paper work on file.  (See the School Nurse for more information)

Confiscated items (cell phones, electronics, etc.) will be held for 1 week and will be returned to a parent for the 1st offense.  If confiscated a second time, item will not be returned until the end of the school year and again must be returned to a parent.
