Class Guidelines

Daily Journal Format

  

1.    Write the date on the top of a blank page.
2.    Write the name of the website and/or software application such as BrainPop or Study Island.
3.    Write what you did such as "practiced multiplication tables."

Please use the computer to look up the correct SPELLING of difficult mathematical vocabulary.

Learning Activities -- 7th and 8th Grades
For School Year 2008-2009 our Learning Technology class for 7th and 8th grade students has been revised.  This class is taught by Ms. Beyers five days a week and blends both math review/support/challenge and Information Technology Literacy (ITL).

Information Technology Literacy (ITL) activities include some of the following:

A.         Demonstrating knowledge of word processing to produce research reports.  
B.         Effectively using online educational resources for researching.
C.         Understanding how to properly use FirstClass email to correspond with teachers and 
            peers.
D.         Creating graphs use spreadsheets.
E.         Utilizing spreadsheets to plan a family budget.
F.         Exploring the good, bad and ugly of online/electronic social networking (MySpace,      
            Facebook, AIM, etc.)     

Math Support and Review activities include some of the following:

A.         Reviewing ISAT test questions using the online tool Study Island .
B.         Utilizing engaging websites to provide students with alternative modalities to learn math 
            concepts.
C.         Challenging students with various online logic problems.
D.         Student created annotated web pages to demonstrate understanding of concepts.
E.         Empowering students with skills to use the Internet to look up answers to math questions.
