Homework and Reading Expectations

There is homework every night  written down in the student handbook. Please check it and sign it. We do one Reading workbook each night of the week. Over the weekend the children read the upcoming story and get familiar with the vocabulary words by defining them and writing the new words in a sentence.   . In Spelling we have :On Mon. 3x's each and ABC order. On Tues.  10 definitions and sentences. On Wed..  15 definitions and sentences.  On Thurs. to write a Spelling Story using at least five words and Brainstorm.  In Math we have 1 page to finish off the daily work of the day and one page of workbook math to accompany the skill of the day.  Again ,please check the agenda for exact pages because this fluctuates due to the amount of daily work that is finished. Also you are checking the agenda for the daily work and what was checked off as finished, plus the homework by inserting your signature daily.

There is also 1/2 hour of reading every night in a novel or book of your choice.  Book reports are due from these readings every 1-2 weeks. Every marking period there are 5 to 6 book reports due. At the end of the school year your child should have read 25 books and have finished book reports to improve their reading literacy. Reading on their own helps them improve in all subjects.

Your child has a reading log sheet where he writes every night the time spend reading and you sign it.  It is to be returned back at the end of each  month.
