ITL Activities for K to 5^th grade

Feb. 25- April 4th

Kindergarten

1.     Continue working with the students on Starfall Learning to Read stories

2.     The students will individually listen to the same story and then discuss after all have read the story.

 1^st and 2^nd Grades

 1.    Continue working with the students with Appleworks word processor.

2.    Will have children continue working with vocabulary words.                   

    Following skills will be reinforced and taught.       

    a.      Using Enter and Return button                  

    b.     Arrow keys                                               

    c.     How to save with meaningful file name        

    d.     How to highlight                                        

    e.      How to use the tab key                            

    f.       How to insert clipart and resize                

 3^rd thru 5^th Grades

1.     The students will utilize what they have learned from Mavis Beacon to help them type brief paragraphs on                          

Microsoft Word on current topics.                                                                                                                            

              2.     Review basic Word processing skills and test.

Basic skills

a.      How to start a new line using Enter or Return

b.     What is a cursor and how is it different then the mouse pointer.

c.     How to change the font size and what is a font.

d.     How to highlight text and have the computer read to them what they have highlighted. Have them know highlighting is also called selecting text.

e.      Teach them a simple definition of the concept “word processing”

f.       Have them learn the name of the word processing program they are using.

Following skills will be reinforced and taught.

    a.      Alignment tools

    b.     Tab key

    c.     How to insert clip art and resize

    d.     Home/End keys

    e.     Resizing images

    f.      Inserting images from the internet

    g.     Copy versus cut

    h.     Highlighting

    i.      Arrow Keys

    j.      How to save with meaningful file name
